An artificial intelligence bill is waiting on Governor Brad Little’s signature.
House Bill 575 makes it a misdemeanor if you use artificial intelligence or ‘synthetic media’ to create ‘deep fakes’ of people with the intent to annoy,
State Representative Dustin Manwaring explains why he voted for the bill.
“So that’s the first big AI related bill that I think we’ve taken on in Idaho and put our stake in the ground and said, hey if you are going to use artificial intelligence to harass or create images of people, you can’t do that when it crosses a line over just your first amendment rights and your now infringing on somebody else’s personal private rights,” says State Representaitve Dustin Manwaring.
The bill passed the House and the Senate and was delivered to the governor on Monday.
The governor has until Friday to sign the bill.
