Lawmakers in Hartford pushing to safeguard residents from AI ‘deep fakes’ – News 12 Connecticut

The state Assembly’s Judiciary Committee held a hearing Monday introducing a new bill that would crack down on Artificial Intelligence (AI) images that are sexually explicit and illegally disseminated.

Pop superstar Taylor Swift was recently a victim of a so-called deep fake, after someone posted fake sexual images of her on social media.

“The software no longer requires a high level of skill, just the ability for someone to type in plain English a set of commands to accomplish synthetic reality” says Capt. Matthew Brodacki, of the Technical Investigation Unit of Southwest Connecticut.
