A 23-year-old was watching the movie “The Exorcist: Believer” on October 29 when he fell asleep. He woke up at 3:47 a.m. to find the theater completely empty — with no workers or moviegoers in sight. Jeffrey Bryant documented himself walking about his local AMC theater in Anaheim, California, baffled as to what happened.
In the TikTok, which has been viewed over 1.6 million times, Bryant captured himself bleary-eyed right after he woke up in the early morning of October 30.
“I fell asleep in the movies woke up at 3:47 AM not 1 employee on site they closed at 11,” he wrote in an on-screen caption.
Bryant told Insider this week that he had gone to see a 10:05 p.m. showing of the franchise horror film that evening. He said he wasn’t particularly sleepy at the time, but he said the first part of the movie was “kind of boring,” and the combination of the air conditioning and the cozy chairs made him so comfortable he ended up dozing off.

“The Exorcist: Believer” runtime is only 2 hours and 12 minutes, so he should have left shortly after midnight.
“Why the fuck did I fall asleep in the movie theater?” Bryant said in the video, walking through a desolate AMC hallway. “Nobody is in the movie theater anymore, bro. Nobody.”
He then showed viewers an empty lobby and snack area with the lights still on. Bryant added that he didn’t believe anyone had tried to wake him up.
Bryant told Insider that when he woke up, he didn’t immediately clock what time it was. He said he only saw the LED lights for the chairs, so he assumed the movie had ended. He figured out what happened after he picked up his phone and saw it was nearly 4 a.m. the next day.

“The concession stand was fully empty as I walked,” he recalled, “so now I’m kind of in shock.”
He said the front doors were locked, but he managed to get out through an emergency exit as its alarm went off.
In a follow-up TikTok video he shared last week, Bryant confirmed that he did not see a single person in the theater when he filmed his initial TikTok. He said there was a security guard present when he arrived at the theater, but that person had left by the time he woke up.
“As I walked outside, only my car was there and the outside lights were off,” Bryant told Insider. In total, he said he spent five and a half hours in the AMC theater.

The comments on his videos were flooded with people laughing at the bizarre occurrence and cracking jokes about how the movie theater recliners are “dangerous.” Some asked him if he raided the snack pantry (he said no in the follow-up clip). Other viewers shared similar experiences they’ve had, including one woman who said she went on a date with a man who fell asleep during their movie. “When the movie was over, I didn’t wake him and just left,” she wrote.
Some commenters expressed shock at how he could fall asleep during a movie like “The Exorcist: Believer,” the sixth installment of the horror series about evil spirits and demons.
“The sleep demon took you overrr,” one person quipped.
“How in the world did you fall asleep on THAT movie of all movies,” another person asked with laughing emojis.
