  • Manipulated video removal policy changes from July 2024

Meta Platforms, previously known as Facebook, has announced a policy change regarding manipulated media. The company will now allow more artificial intelligence-generated content on its platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. The new policy will cover AI-generated video, audio, and images.

This change comes in response to recommendations from the company’s Oversight Board. Starting in May 2024, Meta will introduce labels for AI-generated content that is manipulated but does not violate other policies.

Furthermore, from July 2024, Meta will no longer remove content based solely on its manipulated video policy. This policy shift marks a significant step in broadening Meta’s approach to handling digitally-created or altered media.
