Teradyne announced the collaboration late Tuesday at Nvidia’s GTC conference in San Jose, Calif. Under the alliance, Nvidia will bring AI functionality to Teradyne’s mobile robots and robotic arms.

The addition of AI will speed the operation of factory and warehouse robots, Ujjwal Kumar, group president of Teradyne Robotics, told Investor’s Business Daily. That includes robots from the company’s Universal Robots and MiR units.

Teradyne is at GTC demonstrating an AI-powered autonomous inspection solution with a robot powered by Nvidia’s Jetson AGX Orin computing system. The robot also uses Nvidia’s Isaac Manipulator AI software.

Teradyne Announces New Pallet Robot

Teradyne Robotics also announced the launch of a new AI-powered robot for pallet handling, the MiR 1200 Pallet Jack. The autonomous mobile robot is powered by the Nvidia Jetson AGX Orin module.

The Pallet Jack uses 3D vision to identify, pick up and deliver pallets, even in dynamic and complex environments. It can modify its route to avoid obstacles, such as loose objects on the floor, raised forks in the drive path or overhead obstacles. It can also navigate tight spaces.

With the addition of the Pallet Jack to its portfolio, MiR has become a one-stop shop for autonomous material handling at factories and warehouses, Kumar said.

The use of artificial intelligence in robots is an example of “physical AI” or “embodied AI.”

Teradyne Stock Nears Buy Point

On the stock market today, Teradyne stock rose 0.6% to close at 103.48.

Teradyne stock has formed a cup-with-handle base with a buy point of 113.60, according to an IBD MarketSurge chart.
