MANILA – What comes to mind when you hear the word “self-reflection?” You might think of a time to seclude yourself from your routine to ponder on your life.
Some might answer meditation, a state of concentration that helps a person become more aware of their surroundings and themselves.

However, LinkedIn co-founder and venture capitalist Reid Hoffman took self-reflection to the next level with a bizarre AI interview.
Why did he conduct this AI interview?
Reid Hoffman is a board member for various tech companies like Microsoft, OpenAI and AirBnB. Yet, his interest in technology continues as he delves deeper into artificial intelligence.
“When people ask for my first piece of AI advice, my answer is mostly the same – experiment with the available tools. Try ChatGPT,” he stated in his LinkedIn article.
Despite his passion for tech, Hoffman admitted he didn’t want to create a digital twin. Nevertheless, he wanted to test how it may help him think differently.
The AI twin or “Reid AI” might let him express himself or connect new ideas.
“I view AI as a powerful amplifier of humans, and when I think about AI avatars through this lens, I begin to ask: What are some ways that I can use this tool to be more considerate and connected?”
“More communicative, collaborative, and expressive? I think that we can and should use this technology to be and become more human.”
Ultimately, he wanted to test the possibilities of this technology.
The tech billionaire explained he built his digital counterpart from different AI tools. “The video avatar is generated by Hour One,” he stated.
“The voice cloning is done by 11ElevenLabs. And the persona, as in, the way Reid AI formulates responses, is generated from a custom chatbot built on GPT-4 that draws from my books, speeches, articles, and podcasts that I’ve produced over the last 20 years.”
The AI interview starts with both parties discussing Hoffman’s book, “Blitzscalling: The Lightning-Fast Path to Building Massively Valuable Companies.”
Later, they expounded on various AI topics, such as its ethics, regulations, and the benefits of using digital twins to “make more human connections.”
