Premium users on X can now read summaries of new and other topics created by the company’s AI tool, Grok.

X announced the new feature via a post on X by its Engineering department.  The post describes the feature, called “Stories on X” as a way for users to “see what the world is talking about.”

The tool is located in the Explore tab for Premium subscribers and is currently available for web and iOS only. “Stories on X” are generated by posts made by ideas on X. While some are summaries of specific news stories, others are summaries instead of conversations happening on the platform at the time, newsworthy or not.

The feature is very similar to the Twitter feature Moments, which was killed by the company in 2022. Rather than use AI, Moments relied on a group of human curators to put together tweets focused on new events and key conversations happening on the platform.

Like many AI tools. Grok’s summaries come with the disclaimer “Grok can make mistakes, verify its outputs.” AI in its current form often misunderstands posts by humans and sometimes manufactures its own facts that aren’t entirely based in reality. So if you think the summary you read on X might be a little questionable, you might want to do a little independent research to verify it.

Like many other AI tools, X also noted “This story is a summary of posts on X and may evolve over time,” because as a story develops it might adjust what’s included in the summary.
